In 1985, Dr Mak graduated from the National University of Singapore with distinctions in Medicine and Microbiology. Dr Mak received his post-graduate training in Internal Medicine in Singapore and was awarded the Masters of Medicine (Internal Medicine) and admitted as a Member of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom in 1989. He continued his training as a cardiologist and obtained specialist certification in 1993. Dr. Mak is interested and specializes in general medicine including abnormal lipid profile, diabetes mellitus and hypertension. He also has interests in cardiovascular medicine including patients with coronary heart disease, heart valve disease, rhythm disorder and heart muscle disease, management of patients prior to cardiac and non-cardiac surgery and invasive coronary angiography and intervention.
